1. Introduction
   • This privacy policy sets out how TJE Incorporated Attorneys (“TJE”) processes and protects the privacy of your personally identifiable information.
   • Should you not agree with this policy, you are advised to not provide us with any personal information.
   • TJE needs to collect, use and disclose personal information for you in order to perform our business activities for our clients. TJE is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information and to maintaining various physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect our clients’ personal information in our care.
   • TJE process the personal information of its clients in accordance with the provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”) as amended.
   • For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (“GDPR”) TJE is the “Data Controller” and the “Responsible Party” in terms of POPIA for the processing of personal information you provide us in connection with:
     • TJE’s provision of all business services; and
     • For the purposes of all TJE’s marketing and re-marketing activities.

   • Personal information may also be collected if you are a supplier or a vendor to us, use our website at tjeinc.co.za use or interact with us via our social media platforms, apply for employment with us, contact us via email or telephone and otherwise through dealings with us.

       • Other details relevant or necessary for us to provide our professional services to you.
     • We may also use your personal information to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. You may opt out of receiving any of these communication from us.
   • Usage Data
     • TJE may collect information that your browser sends us whenever you visit our website or when you access our website through any devices.
     • Usage Data may also include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol address (IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our services that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
   • Location Data
     • TJE may us and store information about your location if you give us permission to do so. You can enable or disable location services when you use our service at any time by way of your device settings.
   • Other Data
     • While you use TJE’s services, we may also collect the following information: gender, age, date of birth, place of birth, passport details, citizenship, place of residence, telephone number (work and personal) details or documents relating to your education, qualification, professional training, employment agreements, information on your compensation/remuneration and/or bonusses, information on your marital status and other data.
   • Retention of Data
     • TJE will retain your personal data for as long as it is necessary to provide professional services to you. We will retain and use your personal data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.
     • TJE may also retain usage data for internal analysis purposes. Usage Data is usually retained for a shorter period, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our services, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.
     • TJE will retain your information for as long as needed or permitted considering the purposes for which it was obtained. The criteria used to determine our retention periods include, but are not limited to, the length of time we have an ongoing relationship with you and our legal obligations and legitimate business interests.

   • The security of your data is important to us but remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% security.
   • Whilst TJE strives to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
     
     
7. Your Data Protection Rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
   • TJE will not sell, rent out or trade your personal data. We will only disclose your personal information to third parties, in ways set out in this policy and in accordance with POPIA.

   • The information TJE collects from you is stored in locked physical storage, on our secure servers.
   • We have reasonable and appropriate security measures in place to protect the information that we hold and to prevent unlawful processing, unauthorised access and accidental loss, destruction or damage.
   • Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet or email is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your information, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted via the website or email. Any such transmission is at your own risk.

   • TJE’s website may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us.

    • TJE’s website or services are not intended for use by children under the age of 18 years.
    • We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 18.
